How are my predictions going?

Welcome back it's been a while. This will be a quick look at my Premier League picks from the summer and see how they're doing. For starters I had both Manchester clubs one and two. Not looking so pretty now. I did have Chelsea third and said Conte will bring the winning mentality back to the Blues. I just didn't think they would be this good. A 5 point gap is not massive but Chelsea are looking impressive. Liverpool sit in second at the minute I had them finishing 8th, behind the champions Leicester City! Not so great, also I had West Ham as high as 7th that's only looking like a dream now. But that's what predictions are made for.

At the bottom of the league I'm fairing a little better Hull, Sunderland are struggling. So here I will give my picks a little refresh now we're half way through the season.

1. Chelsea

2. Manchester United

3. Manchester City

4. Arsenal

5. Liverpool

6. Tottenham

To go down I will go with Hull City, Watford and Swansea City.

The Championship I'm doing better, Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday are all doing well. QPR, well the less said the better about them. Reading and Huddersfield are the surprise packages this season. It's a real scrap the Championship so most of my picks to go up and go down could still happen. So I will keep with my pre-season picks which were Newcastle United and Sheffield Wednesday to be promoted. And the play-offs to consist of Ipswich, Norwich, Aston Villa and Leeds. Yes no Brighton anywhere a little risky I know.

My League One predictions are doing OK, Scunthorpe United are sitting in second. Millwall are floating around the play-off zone. To go down I have a 50% strike rate with Swindon and Shrewsbury struggling at the minute. Down in League Two Doncaster, Plymouth and Barnet are all doing well. Newport County are struggling as I predicted. The only stinker is Cheltenham who I had finishing in the play-offs.. there 23rd in League Two.

Where has as it all gone wrong for Chelsea?

After Chelsea’s defeat in Germany to Bayer Leverkusen manager Andre Villas-Boas is a man under serious pressure no matter what he thinks. As Chelsea sank to their third defeat from their last five games I look into where has it gone wrong? Well Chelsea was on a run of six unbeaten going in to their game at Loftus Road towards the end of October. A game where Chelsea thought they would walk all over their London rivals. This didn’t happen that day in West London Chelsea lost the game and lost the plot. The repercussions of that match have still left an effect. QPR won 1-0, but the game will also be remembered for John Terry’s racist slur, Chelsea’s ill-disciplined team (7 yellows and 2 reds). Plus AVB was fined £12,000 after the game for comments made about the referee. Since that match Chelsea have only beaten Blackburn Rovers & Everton on penalties. Their defence looks weak, Terry is getting exposed and David Luiz is not the best partner. Centre of midfield is a problem, Lampard ...
After this weekend’s events what have we learnt in the Premier League. Firstly its Man City’s title to lose, 11 wins and 1 draw in the league at this point they look unstoppable. Man United have a problem in centre midfield. Rooney is filling a gap there and Fergie knows he has a problem. There’s a lack of creative talent in the centre of the park, missing out on Nasri & Sneijder is showing plus the loss of Scholes showed how good he really was. Young could move into the centre where he did play for Aston Villa which could be an option. Tottenham look to be firing on all cylinders now, pace down both wings and they have the creative spark with Modric and Van Der Vaart. Now with Scott Parker doing the dirty work they look in good condition for top 4. Newcastle United’s first test against City was always going to be hard after an easy start to the season, but they do look solid at the back and have been exciting to watch. Chelsea look to have forgotten how to defend, lost th...

English sides in Champions League..

A look at the English sides in Champions League action this week. Real Madrid v Liverpool  Out of form Liverpool head to Madrid which was always going to be the toughest game of the group. They were given a footballing master class at Anfield by the current European Champions as they won 3-0. Madrid are on a 11 game winning streak in all competitions and I only see that continuing. Liverpool are struggling, Mario Balotelli hasn't lived up to the hype, while Gerrard is struggling this season and it looks like he will be rested, or in other words 'dropped'. There is a clear over reliance on Raheem Sterling, if you keep him quite you keep Liverpool quite. They still can't defend, which cost them their first ever Premier League title. I see Real Madrid winning this 4-0 with Ronaldo scoring the first. Arsenal v Anderlecht  Arsenal could practically seal their place in the knock-out stages of the Champions League with a win here. The Gooners snatched victory against Anderlech...
