How did my Football League Predictions go?


So now the Football League season is done with apart from the play offs here's a little look back at how my picks went.

In the Championship from the ante post picks I had Wolves to win it, they were nowhere near. I also had Derby and Middlesbrough to go up. For the drop in my ante post picks none of them hit. In January I had Derby, Hull and Ipswich to be promoted, of course only Derby or Hull can do it. I actually think Sheffield Wednesday will end up winning the play offs. For the drop I had Bolton, MK Dons and Rotherham so I hit on a couple of them.

In League One from the ante post I faired pretty badly having Shrewsbury to go up they nearly went down, and Doncaster to go up who did go down. Wigan to go down, they ended up as Champions. Who cares about League One anyways!? :)
In January I got Blackpool correct to go down. Some smarter picks came with Burton I had as second and Millwall to win the play offs. I also hit on Crewe and Colchester to go down.

In League Two nothing in the ante post hit, but in January, Oxford United did go up and Portsmouth or Plymouth could go up. I got York going down correct. So the lower leagues were a bit hit and miss.

In January I had Manchester United to win the FA Cup, which could hit. In the pre season I had Manchester City for the League Cup and Real Madrid for the Champions League. So not too bad with them picks look out for my Premier League review and Euro 2016 preview coming soon.

As the dust settles and all the teams have played their first games at this year’s World Cup I look back at the early talking points of the tournament. England’s performance was not the best but it also wasn’t the worst. Rob Greens howler will live long in the memory of English football now. He will get hounded at every away ground next season just like James, Carson and Robinson have gone through. I think England will learn a lot from the USA game, and I truly think that Joe Cole has to be on the pitch. I would play him behind Rooney which means dropping Heskey even though he did play well on Saturday. My team on Friday would be, Green (One more chance to save his England career), Johnson, Terry, Dawson, A. Cole, Barry, Lennon, Lampard, Gerrard, J. Cole and Rooney. The most impressive team so far have been Germany. They walked all over Australia and with a very young side they could go a long way.
