Season Review 2014/15

Here's my look back at the 2014/15 season. Chelsea won the Premier League with ease in the end. They were on top all the season and never looked like they would mess it up at any point. They cleaned up on the team of the year, individual awards as Eden Hazard seemed to pick up everything and Jose Mourinho got manager of the year. (He didn't win one manager of the month award though)

The race for top four has the usual faces again as Louis van Gaal has took Manchester United back into it at the expense of Liverpool. Manchester City would expect a much, much better season then they have had next year (Champions League mainly) and with a new manager probably in the hot seat. Arsenal do as they do consistent but never look like will win the Premier League again with Arsene Wenger in charge.

Liverpool’s season will go down as a disappointing one, a forgettable Champions League run, some of the players that Rodgers brought in there's some big question marks about still. They have a Sterling issue to deal with too now. Steven Gerrard also bowed out it's a massive summer & big season for the reds next year. Even Tottenham finished above them, well Harry Kane did.

Surprise pack of the season has to be Southampton many peoples favourites to go down but they have been fantastic this year. West Ham also had a great start to the season but their form from the turn of the year has been pretty poor which has seen the end of Big Sam at Upton Park.

At the bottom the three that went down:

QPR – A pretty shocking season the only real shining light was Charlie Austin who deserves Premier League football. Rangers finished bottom, embarrassed themselves away from home for most of the season a forgettable campaign. Blame Harry :)    

Burnley – Did they even take the Premier League seriously? Danny Ings was good though.

Hull – Finally we have the Rugby League team out the league. I’m being a little harsh but Hull won’t be missed.

I also have to hand it to Leicester who I said were done and dusted, very wrong.

So looking back at my picks from January.

The top four was spot on. Relegation 2/3 not too bad.

The Championship, I had Watford, Ipswich & Middlesbrough so still awaiting on Boro' for that. FA Cup I picked Arsenal. League Cup I had Tottenham. Champions League I had Barcelona and Europa League I had Roma. So not to bad. No major summer tournament though now booooo. However I think the transfers this summer will go crazy, enjoy.

Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool (2019)

On to the 2019 Champions League Final now as Liverpool returned after their heartbreak of last year and they faced Tottenham. An all English final for the first time since 2008.  Both these sides came through some unforgettable semi-finals. Liverpool turned around a 3-0 deficit against Barcelona. While Tottenham came through a hell of a tie against Ajax.  Coming into the match Spurs were left worrying about the fitness of Harry Kane. Kane came into the game struggling but declared himself fit for the match after missing the semi-final. For Liverpool, no real major injury concerns. It was the start that Liverpool fans could only dream of. After only 20 seconds Moussa Sissoko was penalised for 'handball' from a cross by Sadio Mane which seemed to hit his chest. His arm was out in an unnatural position and after a VAR check the penalty was given. It was down to Mo Salah who was so cruelly taken off injured last year to give Liverpool the lead, which the Egyptian did. ...

Is it time for women officials in top flight football?

Can they run they line? Can the referee a top flight game? Are they any better or worse than male referees? Or should they stick with the female version of the game? Richard Keys & Andy Gray have once again brought this issue in to football. Here are a few for’s and against women officials. The Pro’s Women have become part of modern day football. That is a fact. At all levels they plan the game and in some cases they run the show, for example Karen Brady. They now attend more games than they use to. You see them in the crowds, mainly in the home end sitting down not signing but they’re still there. There’s no reason to say they don’t know the rules of the game, especially the offside rule as its now become very, very vague to what it actually is! As long as their adequate and have the ability to do the job properly and fairly surely that’s all that matters. Could this be the key that brings a bit more respect in to the game of football? World Cup Review

Here's my review of the World Cup, slightly different as I have gone for a A-Z look at the tournament. First though my team of the tournament.   World Cup Team Of The Tournament G.K -  M.
