Redknapp v Taarabt

Once again QPR are making more headlines, but not for their performance on Sunday against Liverpool it's the off the antics that have put Rangers in the lime light. It was a better display against Liverpool but they showed naivety in somehow still losing the game in the 95th minute with a cruel own goal. The defeat leaves them bottom of the table, however all the talk is about a player who was not even in the squad and the manager.

Harry Redknapp has used Adel Taarabt as a scapegoat to deflect the blame off himself on Rangers poor start. He has also used a load of excuses already this season ranging from, blaming pre-season (going to the wrong place) to players not being fit even though were in mid October and not having enough strikers. QPR have changed their tactics and formation through-out the season and he still does not know his best side but somehow that's not his fault.

Redknapp has chosen to lash out on the Moroccan claiming that he is 3 stone overweight, not fit to train or even play football at the minute. Taarabt's attitude has not been the greatest at times but the player has hit back claiming Redknapp does not know what tactics he is playing, the coaches do love him and that he is not overweight and wants to play for the club. QPR supporters are split down the middle on the player who has had one hell of a career at Loftus Road. He came in on loan from Tottenham back in 2009 and simply was a star no fan can say he wasn't. His highlight came in 2011 when he captained the side to the Premier League. He has also scored some very special goals too, however he and Redknapp have never clicked.

Taarabt's been sent out to Fulham and AC Milan on loan but in his mind he believes he should be at a Real Madrid or a PSG by now. He is a skilful player but maybe he has sent the bar a little too high. Harry Redknapp shooting him down is the most passionate I have seen him this season. He has had it quite easy at QPR from the moment he walked in the club. He doesn't really get blamed for the relegation, many fans feel Mark Hughes was the main reason. In the Championship QPR did what they had to do to get promotion and he has had every transfer window to do what he wanted. Now the pressure is on with his job coming under fire in recent weeks.

The Aston Villa game now is a must win, after a decent performance against Liverpool, Rangers must take that momentum and energy levels in to that match. Especially with Chelsea and Manchester City on the way QPR can't afford to get cut a drift so early in the season. All the talk is of not what's happening on the pitch but the antics off it and shows again that at times its a circus at Loftus Road.

The question is who will last longer at the club? Adel Taarabt won't be going anywhere until the transfer window opens and Harry Redknapp no matter what he says, his job is still under pressure as the likes of Pulis, Sherwood and Moyes are all out of work. Who will last longer and more importantly will QPR start to focus on a crunch game against Aston Villa next week?

After this weekend’s events what have we learnt in the Premier League. Firstly its Man City’s title to lose, 11 wins and 1 draw in the league at this point they look unstoppable. Man United have a problem in centre midfield. Rooney is filling a gap there and Fergie knows he has a problem. There’s a lack of creative talent in the centre of the park, missing out on Nasri & Sneijder is showing plus the loss of Scholes showed how good he really was. Young could move into the centre where he did play for Aston Villa which could be an option. Tottenham look to be firing on all cylinders now, pace down both wings and they have the creative spark with Modric and Van Der Vaart. Now with Scott Parker doing the dirty work they look in good condition for top 4. Newcastle United’s first test against City was always going to be hard after an easy start to the season, but they do look solid at the back and have been exciting to watch. Chelsea look to have forgotten how to defend, lost th...

Where has as it all gone wrong for Chelsea?

After Chelsea’s defeat in Germany to Bayer Leverkusen manager Andre Villas-Boas is a man under serious pressure no matter what he thinks. As Chelsea sank to their third defeat from their last five games I look into where has it gone wrong? Well Chelsea was on a run of six unbeaten going in to their game at Loftus Road towards the end of October. A game where Chelsea thought they would walk all over their London rivals. This didn’t happen that day in West London Chelsea lost the game and lost the plot. The repercussions of that match have still left an effect. QPR won 1-0, but the game will also be remembered for John Terry’s racist slur, Chelsea’s ill-disciplined team (7 yellows and 2 reds). Plus AVB was fined £12,000 after the game for comments made about the referee. Since that match Chelsea have only beaten Blackburn Rovers & Everton on penalties. Their defence looks weak, Terry is getting exposed and David Luiz is not the best partner. Centre of midfield is a problem, Lampard ...

Top of the table looking the same.....

As we head into the international break this season’s title race looks like it’s going to be the same old faces, with a similar outcome. Man United sit top and 5 points clear of Arsenal. United have had probably the most average season for a long time. The defence is not great and the midfield has been a lot better. But they have done what United always do, get results when not playing well. Hernandez, Berbatov & Nani have been the main men for me. The little Mexicans first season in England have seen him scored 16 goals in all competitions this season. He is a true goal poacher, he reminds me of Ole Gunnar Solskjear who worked well with any partner he was teamed, Hernandez has done the same with Berbatov and Rooney. Nani has stepped up his game a lot he had big boots to fill in the size of Ronaldo. He had been compared to his fellow countryman but never really was as good. However he has been a key player this season and has scored 10 times. He has done very well but I feel their ...
